The Minho is a green Northern Provence of Portugal.
It is a central mountain range with several rivers that cross the country. The mild climate allows you to enjoy the country all year round. Not too dry and hot like the middle or southern parts of the country or as wet and cold as in the eastern part. The landscape ranges from terraced vineyards, eucalyptus and pine forests to mountain slopes with beautiful views. This agricultural and wine region has many villages and fortified towns. Life is still traditional. Old rural habits are still intact. Ancient grain sheds (espigeiros) are annually filled with corn, high arched vines are hand-edited, and olives are pressed into oil.
In the provence Minho, lies the District Braga. This is where Quinta de Cainhos is situated. Nearby Cabeceiras De Basto.

 There is the possibility to play golf in Northern Portugal. Porto has the oldest and most prestigious golf course of Portugal. There are also a few golf courses in the vicinity of Quinta de Cainhos, especially on the West coast. Near Amarante you will find an “18 hole” golf course. The prices range from 45 to 65 euros.

This “Quinta” was built in 1589 and is owned by a Portuguese couple. They renovated the entire house. The majority is finished. The domain, with an area of 30 acres, consists of a fresh water pool, a chapel and several old buildings like the main holiday house. The holiday house consists of a living room, kitchen, 3 double rooms and a bathroom. The grounds of this domain is bounded by a river and beautiful fruit-, olive- and cork oak trees. A magnificent holiday house with lots of privacy and tranquility.
